Any 30 amp NEMA L5-30 generator cord plugs in, and a green light on the flip-top shows when power is arriving. The spring-loaded cover closes over the inlet when the cord is out. Inside, the front is removable, the maximum wire gauge is 10 AWG, and 1.2 inch knockouts sit on three sides.
